Is it lung Cancer?

Posted by darlenecaywood164 @darlenecaywood164, Jun 25, 2023

I did blood work to check my liver function and cbc and results came back showing signs of lung disease within a week had XRay and CT scan no contrast that shows innumerable nodules and enlarged lymph nodes and a mass so now have to have a pet scan to see what's going on? Dr. Wrote either infection or malignancy on my CT scan results? What does this all mean, my anxiety is through the roof, I want to talk and get answers, so stressed. If it is lung cancer can you work while doing treatment?

If you have the wonderful robotic surgery, the access will likely not be where your scar tissue is. The incisions are in various places and the lobe is removed from an incision on your side between 2 ribs. The technology is remarkable, but very complex surgery, so a top-notch surgeon is essential. I got 3 opinions and consultations before selecting my surgeon.

LOL on the auto correct. Thanks.

My pulmonologist swears the thoracic surgeon is a reputable whiz trained at MD Anderson in robotics and I really trust her. She was is so caring and thoughtful.

You were smart to get those opinions. I don't think I have time, but I will size it all up carefully, yes. Interesting how the surgery works, thanks. I meet with a female lung oncologist tomorrow, and I will have my list of questions on everything from Ketruda to DNA testing,

I am "spring" cleaning my house today to get ready for surgery to keep me focused on recovery. I'm in the dog days of summer in South Texas, where we hide inside from the 100+ degrees and get cabin fever .

Many thanks.

You mentioned UT in your post. Are you in TN? I'm waiting to get answers myself on nodules

Honey I’ve been exactly where you are just a few weeks ago!! I had a routine chest xray because I’m a smoker and that started this nightmare I’m living in. So from the x-ray, it should a mass on my left upper lobe of my lung and of course they sent me to the CAT scan and it confirmed that I had a nodule on my lung and then same thing where you’re at right now they sent me for a PET scan and that nodule had lit up, well after that came the biopsy and unfortunately I do have non-small cell carcinoma which is lung cancer. It came back ligament for it so next Thursday, June 26 I’m sorry 25th. I have my surgery scheduled where they will go in. they have to take my whole upper lobe on my left side of my lung but the words you really wanna look for on your my chart would be words that say something like speculated nodule.1 thing I learned was if the mass/tumor/nodule is nice and smooth there’s a high chance it’s NOT cancer but if it is “ speculated” your chances it’s cancer are much higher! I wish you nothing but the best!

I have so many questions! They are taking my whole upper left lung out. They are going through my back by my shoulder blade. They said it will be about a 5-7 inch cut I’m scared half to death! I have nobody to go with me either so I’ll be all alone 💔 how bad was the pain? How did they do yours?

Hi, this is all so very scary, I was too, it’s only natural when you are told you have cancer and need major surgery.
You are having your upper left lobe removed, Did they tell you what this procedure is called ?
Mine was called a RATS, Robotic-Assisted Thoracic Surgery, I had 4 small incisions… 3 along my right side and 1 towards my back.
I was given pain meds in the hospital, that kept any pain at bay, I was discharged next morning… I took Tylenol as needed once home. My pain was quite manageable.
I’m so very sorry you have no one to be with you when you go for surgery.
Hugs 🤗 to you.
