Is anyone unable to take pain medication because of side effects to AL

Posted by untygin @untygin, Aug 3 3:04pm

Codeine makes me vomit uncontrollably. Vicodin makes me fall. Dilaudid makes me unable to think straight. Many opiates affect my kidneys. Morphine and Oxycodone make me vomit and fog up my brain. The only thing I can take is Tylenol but if I need something stronger I am out of luck. I think it has to do with the Parkinsons. Has anyone else had this problem?

Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect, @untygin. I'm sorry to hear these medications all have significant side effects for you. I don't have Parkinson's, but I have the same issue if I take codeine and vomit. Not pleasant.

I noticed this list by the American Parkinson Disease Association about medications to avoid with Parkinson's, and I thought you might be interested:

What does your doctor suggest as an alternative if you need a stronger medicine?
