Is anyone taking Zenpep rather than Creon? If so what foods work?
I do not have diarrhea, but I have many bowel movements as my digestive system doesn't seem to get the nutrients needed. I go uup and down about 4 pounds every day, but am stuck not moving ahead. I don't have diabetes, but do not eat sugar, salt or sodium. I eat about 1,500 to 1,600+ calories a day, but they all go down the toilet. I'm working with Mayo on this, but so far nothing seems to work. I take 40,000 unitswith my three meals and 10,000 units with each snack. I need to gain 13 pounds and don't know how to regulate the water intake as well. Anyone who has any information would be greatly appreciated! I'm 6 months from surgery and they got it all. I have no cancer. Thank you for reading this!

You might not be taking enough believe it or not. I’m taking 120 000IU zenpep (that’s 2 60 000 capsules) per meal and still have issues. I’m also thinking about trying Creon. You may need to up the dose. Read your stool test results see what category your elastase level was, moderate or severe. You can see Drs on YouTube explaining the dosages based on what tier your condition falls in.
Welcome, @mediummango28. Have you had treatment for pancreatic cancer? How are you doing now?
I take Creon and what has made a huge difference is the way I take it. For a main meal I eat a little but, then take one 25000 unit pill and another when I finish the meal. No diarrhea, feel great.

1 Reaction@cpblanco I was advised to take my Creon before my meal or snack for best results. I'm taking 3 capsules prior to meals and 2 capsules prior to snacks. The capsules contain 24,000 Units of Lipase, 76,000 Units of Protease & 120,000 Units of Amylase. After taking Creon for over a year I still forget to take it until I'm half finished my meal or snack and as much as an hour later if I gone out to eat and forgot to bring my pills with me. I definitely see the best results if I take all 3 caps prior to my first bite of food. Just my observation.

1 ReactionMy husband takes two pills of 36,000 units Creon with meals and one pill with snacks. We met with his onologist on Friday and he said he should eat 2500 calories a day to gain one-half pound of weight a week. You may not be eating enough to gain weight if you are only eating 1500 calories per day. My husband lost 35 pounds and so our goal is now for him to gain about 15 pounds. His doctor said getting back to his original weight is probably not a realistic goal. We have a new goal and my job will be to help him get 2500 calories each day! Lunch is the meal he doesn't eat as much, so we will focus on getting more calories at lunch! Hang in there!
