Is anyone else diagnosed with PMR experiencing weakness in their legs?
I have never noticed a problem with my legs prior to my diagnosis. Twice, I have kneeled down in public places - once in WAlmart - and was unable to get up. Scary!! This has never happened to me in the past. Is it the PMR, or is it prednisone, or is it that I have been misdiagnosed? My PCP is not suggesting a rheumatologist so far, and that alone concerns me.

It may be difficult to determine the source of the weakness. I was unable to stand after kneeling BEFORE I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral neuropathy and pmr (9 months now). I don't know your age
but almost everyone will have this problem as they age. Or, it could be one of the above or a different problem.
What to do:
If you have pmr you should definitely see a rheumatologist.
Get a referral for physical therapy and be consistent with your daily workout
Learn about your inflammatory markers in your lab bloodwork, C-reative protein, sed rate, Il6 ,others.
If your symptoms continue, or get worse, ask your rheumatologist if your a a candidate for a biological
treatment, called Kevzara

Yes, I was hospitalized with newly onset gian5 cell arteritis and PMR in August. I have switched from Benlysta and plaquenil to Actemrra. I have to use a walker. My legs/hips are weak and shake. I have always been active on my little farm. I make mys3lf move but does not seem to improve much.
I used to sit on the floor and get up without using my hands, just my legs. I’m in remission and still not as flexible or strong as before. Main weakness is legs, not other parts of my body.
I agree do see a rheumatologist. My GP didn’t think I needed treatment, just said i was getting older at 74. I have always been active and exercised, yoga used weights, but my legs were weaker. It was a weird feeling, and I didn’t believe it was just age. This happened fast and was the PMR. I felt like i aged 10 years. I have fought back over the last year to gain my strength back. My rheumatologist put me on hydroxychloroquine for my arthritis inflammation. It has helped get rid of inflammation and pain greatly and i am able to use weights to gain strength.
I am going to a rheumatologist and think that’s the best specialty to help with PMR.
