@joannemm34293 what does your pathology report say? We cannot give advice and you need to talk to an MD but I think we are allowed to explain terms.

Report in part says. IDC. GRADE 2. Malignant cells reactive to E-Cadherin, loss of reactivity for CK 5/6.

Absent myoepitelial cell demonstrated by P63.

ESTROGEN RECEPTORS POSITIVE AT 90%.
Progesterone receptor positive 80%.

Her-2/neu Oncoprotein: negative (1+).

My pathology report from biopsy is so difficult to figure out. I’m going crazy inside having to wait until August 7 got my consultation with Moffitt Cancer Centers breast surgeon and oncologist. And that’s just a consult. How many more weeks will I have to wait and wait and wait for surgery? This lump has been in my left breast since February. Ultrasound on Feb 2 called it a cyst. Wrong. Then two weeks later the 3D mammogram totally missed this lump. Too many months passing by without treatment. .

I had a 3D mammo miss 2 large tumors in one breast… and I went in with a symptom! Two mos later I strongly requested an MRI… bingo!

My unilateral mastectomy was 4 mos after I went for mammo… 6 weeks after MRI.

I, like you, had Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) Stage 2 ER/PR + HER2 - ( it appears) . An ONCOTYPE will be performed on the tissue ( biopsy or surgical.. typically surgical) to determine if chemotherapy will be beneficial. Radiation Oncology consultation will be recommended also. Aromatase Inhibitor for 5-7(10) years will also likely be recommended.

There is some “time” … but it is also “of the essence “. I would definitely become the squeaky wheel here!

Best to you on this (unwanted) path to RECOVERY!

Don’t start an Aromatase Inhibitor until tissue is secured for an oncotype testing… once you take it they cannot do the oncotype as it alters the chemistry of the tissue.

I have been so vocal about trying to get in quickly. Seems SW Florida is loaded with sickly people because even Moffitt Cancer center in Tampa can not see me until Aug 7.
I’m just fed up. All these high tech machines missing deadly stuff. Radiologist calling something a cyst when it clearly was a solid tumor and all these places booked with sickly people.

I’m just fed up. Soonest Moffitt can see me is Aug 7. They originally had me coming in August 27 for first time visit.

Unreal. MRI was June 2 and biopsy July 25. I was shocked when it was cancer because ultrasound said cyst and 3D mammogram said No malignant masses etc found.

It’s an analysis of the DNA of the tumor ( not you). It is predictive regarding benefits of chemotherapy. It’s 16 data points I believe. Scoring is between 0-100. If it’s a low score ( under 25 for post menopausal and under 18 for pre menopausal) then chemotherapy will typically not be recommended…

Hopefully during my first visit to Moffitt cancer center in Tampa Fl that this test will be done.

When I try to initially scheduled my biopsy on June 2, I called over 12 surgeons and several imaging facilities and women’s breast care centers that do the ultrasound guided or MRI guided biopsies, and every single one of them that I called all said they were booked out until August. A full two month wait just to get a biopsy. I called them all the time asking please did anybody cancel please please and they all told me that for a cancellation to take place for them to schedule me that two people would have to call in and cancel because it takes two full timeslots to do these biopsies and they said it’s almost impossible for you to get two people to cancel that or back to back appointments. It’s insane. I hear all this hoopla about women’s healthcare and fighting breast, cancer and breast cancer awareness month and on and on and on yet when women are diagnosed with breast cancer, it takes weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks for them to get an appointment to get the ball rolling. Unbelievable. It’s all window dressing. Talk to me unless they walk to talk and women or expedited when they have biopsies that come back breast cancer.

So your biopsy was July 25th and you are seeing an oncologist (or surgeon or both?) on August 7th, which is coming up soon.

The Oncotype can be done on biopsy tissue but much better to do on surgical specimen. My Oncotype was done at first on the biopsy tissue and said I was HER2+ so I got ready for chemo. Oncotype was redone on surgical tissue at my request. All pathology including Oncotype and lab testing had me as HER2-. No chemo!

Your estrogen scores are excellent- exactly the same as mine. I had a low Oncotype despite grade 3 (or 2 depending on hospital) and did hormonal meds, no chemo. That may be the case for you.

I understand the situation with hospitals being busy but we all had some degree of waiting and you have more waiting in store, sorry! Waiting for surgery, waiting for pathology, Oncotype after surgery gets results in two+ weeks, and waiting for treatment plan. I walked, watched Netflix, tried to keep busy and eventually asked for a few Ativan to help me sleep. Melatonin can help too. I hope you will do whatever you need to make this bearable. Once you have a plan it is one foot forward. I am 8 1/2 years out now.
