Internet dose withdrawal from Ativan

Posted by frouke @frouke, Feb 11 11:57am

I’m going through a hard time with Ativan, I started feeling it wear off between doses usually every 8 - 10 hours, it’s scaring me because I’m terrified of getting off this medication, can anyone help me out with suggestions!!

Hi I don’t understand your question. Are you being tapered off? Are you wanting to taper off? Are you ok? Do you needed to go to the ER for withdrawal?

@9yearspast I don’t want to taper off Ativan but after so many years I seem to have reached tolerance, at least that’s what they call it when you start to feel the effects of the medication wearing off, it feels like a roller coaster, I still get some relief when I take my usual 0.5 mg but after a few hours I feel horrible. The doctor said I should not increase my dose because I will continue to feel worse. I am adjusting to a new antidepressant and hopefully it will help but if it doesn’t get better I’ll have to face tapering off the Ativan.

@frouke I would like to know what you go through when Ativan isn’t working and has anyone successfully cross tapered from Ativan to Clonazepam.

I got off Ativan and onto clonazepam in one fell swoop. It was what my meds lady said to do. The first and second nihts were rough, but I am 6 days into and somewhat better -- I don't wake up in such a panic state, but I do wake up frequently with milder anxiety. From what I read tapering off may be better, though. Good luck. I know this is no fun. Blessings to you.

@gunshy , that’s rough to go from one to the other but from what I’ve read it’s not that much better to cross taper either, you’re a strong person, God bless you.
