Insomnia since brain bleed

Posted by waterwoman9 @waterwoman9, 23 hours ago

4 months ago I fell down my stairs and had a brain bleed and concussion and have TBI. Still have dizziness but not other side effects. Since being in ICU and trauma center I have only been able to sleep 4 hours a night no matter what I try. Have tried increasing doses of melatonin and now starting to try sleep CBDs. Has this happened to others with TBI and has anyone found a relief for the insomnia?

I had a stroke on Christmas Eve 2018, over seven years ago.

I have not had one good night's sleep since.

That being said, I have been in incessant pain that entire time.
I imagine that if I didn't hurt so much, I'd sleep longer.
At this point, it seems that I'll never know.

I did an episode about this on my YouTube channel, From Recovery to Discovery:

So sorry to hear of your pain. i have no pain but still have the insomnia that I didn't have before the fall and the brain bleed. But it's only been 4 months so maybe there will be change. I appreciated seeing your video and I'm hoping things get better for you. Jan

My husband had a similar brain bleed followed by years of sleep issues. The one thing that is working well is Magnesium Glycinate. He takes it at bedtime and if he wakes up he takes it again. Fist time he's sleeping through the night in years. We buy this brand off Amazon.
Magnesium Glycinate 500 mg - Chelated Supplement - High Absorption Form of Magnesium - Support for Sleep, Muscle & Heart Health - Made in USA, Lab Tested & Non-GMO - 120 Capsules https://a.co/d/09WmT0rH

We bought a different brand once and it didn't work. So now when we recommend it we make sure to include the actual brand we use.
