Innocaptions for hearing loss

I have used InnoCaption+ app for many years and it is the only app I use to call or receive calls on my cell phone. You did the right setup and yes, all calls to your regular cell phone # automatically go to the app. You can choose if you want the volume on or off. I love that it saves the conversation for as long as you want so you can go back and review what was said.

There are several discussions here about Innocaption if you just type in that word in the search area. Their customer service is great. Goggle InnoCaption and you will see more information and frequently asked questions.

I also wear Phonak hearing aids and that app is just basically for volume.

You can also install the app on your iPad or computer. Don’t be afraid to tell anyone on the phone what you are using to hear them properly. I love that you can hear and read at the same time. Don’t forget to keep scrolling down if it’s a long call. You should practice with someone. It is pretty accurate but , of course, some accents could be difficult or if you get someone who mumbles. You can choose to have your conversation read by a live captioned or voice recognition or both. If there are no live captioners available, it will automatically switch to voice recognition.

@imallears ....thank you so much!! I feel much better knowing all this, and ill also do the search.
I literally panic when an important call comes in, I never know if ill hear well, its mostly understanding, clarity.
I sometimes actually drive to a facility, to speak to them in person, rather than call.
I just experience much anxiety, it affects my entire body.
Glad i have the app now, and hopefully it'll help me.

I’m so happy to be able to pass that on. I understand the anxiety. You may experience a very short delay between someone asking a question and you answering..not always. Be upfront about letting callers know you are using a captioned app. I always answer my cell (which I have on vibrate because I wouldn’t hear the ring from another room) with “this is Mary”.

My Live Transcribe app is always on especially in Doctor offices. I’ll know when my name is called and I have it set to vibrate when someone says my name. I go to an eye clinic every few months and I have an 8 x 10 piece of colored paper that says..” Patient has hearing loss…May not hear name called…Please bring this with you when you call my name. Thank you..Mary Hair. Then I situate myself where the assistants come in. No anxiety necessary. It’s just an extra thing to get me through life. Most people are intrigued when they see me using it. Always smile …it ain’t your fault😉

Im the same going to drs appointments...i sit up close, and ive often gotten up hearing the wrong name...i get very embarrassed, but i do speak up about my loss, always apologizing, sorry to make people repeat. Usually everyone is polite and accommodating.
The live and transcribe you use at appts...is that another separate app??
Im going to look it up, so need to respond again to all my questions.
Im in Florida too...is the FL next to your name meaning Florida?

Hi,
The Live Transcribe App is a separate app that I downloaded on my Samsung Galaxy phone so it’s only available on Androids. It has nothing to do with the
InnoCaption.
There is a similar app on iPhones that is built in called Live Captions. Try to find the Accessibility options on your phone if yours is an iPhone. Or just go to the iPhones App Store.

Your phone should have a good microphone. Mine works exceptionally well.
Some people have had problems using Live Transcribe ecause their microphone on their particular phone is not good. So, as I mentioned , just go on over to your App Store and browse..see what the reviews say…only use free apps. You should never have to pay to use these kinds of apps. Of course, they are WiFi dependent. Depending on where you live you could have a problem
(or not )in certain areas. For instance , if you lived in a mountainous area. I have been in offices where the WiFi is weak and have been unable to access the app or have had difficulty with it stopping. But, where I live, that doesn’t happen too often.
