Inguinal hernia and surgical

I am older woman facing inguinal hernia surgery. I am aware about 2 method of performing this surgery.
And I am in doubt which one is the most appropriate for myself. From the medical point of view the both methods are safe and sufficient. Nevertheless, I have read about some ( even severe) side effect about the laparoscopic mech surgery method.
From the other hand, having heart arrhythmia, I am concern about the surgery duration, when is the choise of the general versus local anaesthesia is possible.
