Information on visiting a patient at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Flor.
My best friend is at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Florida and her twin sister and I want to come and see her. She is being treated for bile duct cancer and we are very worried. It will be a 4-5 hr drive. Is there any helpful information we can get before coming? Thank you

Hi @red888, I can imagine you're worried about your friend and she'll appreciate seeing you and her sister. I'm sure you've already seen the general Visitor's Guide to the Florida campus here: https://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide/florida

Good morning. I’m so sorry your friend is sick. I’m a patient at Jax Mayo. I have also had surgery there as well. There is a courtyard Marriott that is basically in the parking lot of the hospital. It would be most convenient- you can easily walk back and forth to the hospital. There are many others that are also very close. Word of warning traffic around Mayo can get backed up during peak hours. There is a couple of food and coffee places on the campus and a shuttle service to also assist. Plenty of people to answer questions and help.

There is great information shared here.
Be aware of the traffic situation as well as parking. There are optimum parking times and locations. the multiple leveled parking is for a fee. There is a van that can take you from a parking lot to the hospital entrance as well as other locations on campus.
If you are coming to the hospital, check for policies for arrivals and visits before you come.
Food: Bundy's is the updated main food option. Also available is a Starbucks, both are on the Davis Building side which connects to Mayo Building and Hospital and Cannaday. Zest and M Brothers are in the Cannaday Building. Also there is a pharmacy and gift store along the main hall (first floor).
Check in at Volunteer Desks if you are overwhelmed. They are a great help!
Safe travels.
