Info on our Mayo Clinic stay for my boyfriend's seizure care

Posted by kassidytaylor94 @kassidytaylor94, Nov 25, 2025

We will be traveling from Arkansas in February to see the Neurology team in MN. My boyfriend has been having seizures since about 18 years old. They've gotten worse through the years, and he's on the highest dose of Keppra. After his last Grand Mal seizure they upped his dosage and he's still experiencing Nocturnal seizures and Absence Seizures. It's very scary to have no answers as to why these are happening, and becoming more frequent.... So we are extremely grateful to have gotten into the Mayo Clinic as quick as we did. Anyways.... We have never been to MN and have no idea where to get a room, or what to expect. They said we will be there for 5-7 days. If anyone can give me some info on this and what to expect at our stay that would be wonderful. Idk if they allow spouses to stay in the hospital or not. We just want to be somewhat prepared before we make this trip

Staying off campus at any Marriotts within 10 - 15 mins away if just there for tests at 6:20 a.m. Is this feasible and what time do you need to check in on 3/10/2026?

Welcome to Mayo Connect.

I am assuming you meant 4/10 appointment instead of 3/10 at the Rochester downtown campus. At that time, you do not check in very early. Most areas will not allow 30 minutes prior to appt. If your hotel does not provide a shuttle that early, I suggest parking at the Graham parking ramp. At that hour, there will be plenty of spots. Valet parking starts at 6 AM, so that is another option.

If you want to share the location of your appointment, I can try to give more details
