Increased fatigue
I have been on sertraline for depression for 20+ years and for the last 2-3 years have been experiencing extreme fatigue, lack of motivation. I get 8-9 hours of sleep each night but wake up tired. My doctor suggests adding Wellbutrin with Sertraline or just switching to Wellbutrin alone. We have been decreasing my Sertraline dose but no changes noted in my fatigue. I’ve been on Sertraline so long and am a bit anxious about adding another medication. Struggling on what to do.

I take 75 mg of sertraline (Zoloft) and 300 mg of Wellbutrin/bupropion and it is a good combination for me. Many call this combination “Welloft” since it really helps them.
If you start low on Wellbutrin/bupropion to try to see if it helps, you may find it does work for you. It does not cause me any side effects and it is the only combination that has worked for me for deep depression, low energy, low motivation, etc. it takes time to find the right medications that work for each person so be patient and work closely with your doctor.
Have you been tested for sleep apnea with a sleep study? When you wake up tired after sleeping 8-9 hours, it was a sign for me I had sleep apnea (moderate). I use a cpap now and I don’t wake up as tired anymore.
I’m on cpap for sleep apnea and doing fine on that and have had several follow up appointments from for depression and sleep apnea. Cpap has not made a difference in fatigue
