Increase in PSA after pellet testosterone therapy

Posted by chuckiepoo1 @chuckiepoo1, Feb 27, 2025

I recently underwent testosterone therapy with placement of pellets. My PSA prior was in the 1.6 range and weeks after implantation my PSA has increased to 2.5. This is a little worrisome to me and wondering if anyone else has experienced the increase. I've yet to return to my urologist for follow-up. I will add that the pellet therapy has been positive in that it has increased my libido and seemingly has given me more energy and overall feeling better. It is a little difficult to differentiate as to whether it is as a result of this or implantation of a pacemaker a little over 2 weeks ago for heart related electrical issues. I might also add that my heart is strong according to the cardiologists and there's no evidence of any damage to it. I did have stent placement a little over 3 years ago for an 80 plus percent blockage of the lad.

I believe increases in PSA score are not unexpected when undergoing testosterone replacement therapy. That's why it's important to titrate your TRT dose so that your testosterone level is within the normal range and not trending too high. Thats easier to do with gel than pellets, however.
