Important JAMA study from May 2023
This important JAMA study from last May hasn't been mentioned recently: https://www.nih.gov/news-events/nih-research-matters/toward-deeper-understanding-long-covid. The researchers proposed a scoring system for diagnosing long covid. At the top of the list was Post-Exertional Malaise, which the researchers defined. It seems that PEM is among the most common LC symptoms, and anyone experiencing it should read up on it.

Thanks for the link. I’m eagerly waiting for some treatment for my smell/taste disorder.
My long covid clinic recommends aromatherapy for loss of smell/taste. They seem pretty confident in it.
Okay. I’ve been doing some, but will pick it up. I wasn’t pleased with some of the fragrance oils I purchased and need to get more. I tested them out on family members, so I know a few weren’t very fragrant. . Man, I hope this works for me! Thanks so much!
Good luck!
Didn't help me at all.
I've had PostCovidSyndrome for 4yrs. Discovered I am recently able to smell VicksVapoRub. So I sniff it several times a day. I have also found non-drowsey store brand antihistamine helpful.
Smelling something strong like Vicks is what my clinic would recommend. Supposedly it slowly activates your smell/taste nerves and gets you through the loss of smell/taste more quickly. I could have been more clear--they're not suggesting aromatherapy as in lighting candles or getting a diffuser. They recommend smelling something strong right up at your nose several times a day.
Has anyone taken the medication ethyl loflazepate? I found this study about it being used in the treatment of taste disorders. It mentions post covid as well. I wonder why none of my doctors have mentioned this.
