I was diagnosed with heart failure even though I have no risk factors

Recently diagnosed with Heart failure. I have no risk factors yet it showed up on a stress test and on an echo cardiogram. My left ventricle is weak. My BMI is 21, my Cholesterol levels are routinely within the healthy zone. I exercise often and am not out of shape. I did have Covid 2x during the 2019-2021 period when it was going around. Is this familiar to anyone else? I also came down with PMR during that time period. I am 76. Thank you for your imput.

If you were to google a syntax like 'COVID and onset of CHF', you'll get quite a few hits, some of them like the one I have provided above.

We're finding out that we got a double whammy with COVID. Few medica organizations wanted to admit to it until the British Ministry of Health published a damning report six or seven weeks ago now admitting that the vaccines have not done us any favors as a population. Of course, we know that COVID, itself, causes persistent and life-threatening conditions.

I'm sorry for your circumstances. Note that people live decades with heart failure if it can be managed. I'll hope you fall happily into that category.

You did not give your EF. It would indicate the level of heart failure you have. Remember heart failure is not the failure of the heart it is that it does not pump the normal amount of blood out of heart. It does not mean is has failed.

Know you EF is important. You did not mentioned your BP. BP plays a big role in heart failure as it can make the heart get larger dealing with the higher blood pressure and the bigger heart comes with reduction of EF and heart failure. I wish they would change the heart failure to reduced heart fuction (RHF) as that is what it is. Heart failure should mean the heart has failed and that is the morbidity.

I did not get HF from cardiovascular disease. I got a virus that got into heart muscle and caused scarring. That caused a LBB. I did not treat the HP and they caused enlargement of heart and reduced EF.

Find out if you don't know your EF and your PB. Look at medications that can help with those with your EP and Cardiologist to keep your heart from getting any weaker. You doctors will probably tell you to continue your exercising. Do I exercise? Yes, I do Sprint Triathlons and train almost very day. I have an EF of 25 but it has been stable for decades with medications.

I may be wrong, but as was noted; a lot of concerns have arisen from the whole covid debacle. Many who took the shots now have heart issues and I would possibly check with the covid injuries page to see what kind of conversations are there. I was doing volunteer work for an organization looking into vaccine injuries and there were far too many for the product to still be on the market; however, it is...and sadly, many are still taking them. I hope you are able to find out what's wrong.

The 45 is not bad. I am not a medical professional so that is a personal comment. I wish mine was 45! I believe 60-70 is the normal EF. When it gets down to 30 cardiologist and EPs will look at ICD/Pacemakers. That is what happened to me it went down to 30. I went to Mayo for second opinion and have been at Mayo since 2006. I am being treated by a Heart Failure Specialist and a EP Specialist.

Your BP is excellent. I was told BP is the silent killer and a big cause of heart failure. The heart works so much harder when BP is high and can lead to HF because of enlarged heart trying to pump harder.

Work on keeping you EF from going any lower or improve it. That can happen (improve) so stay positive. Mine has been at 25 for about 2 decades now with the medications I was put on when I came to Mayo Jacksonville in 2006. The pacemaker has really helped with keeping my pulse rate at a healthy rate as with the medications it was going down in the 40s.

My BP is usually around 110-70. It can go lower but rarely higher.
