I started Reclast in March 2022 as a transitions away from Prolia.

Two of my teeth have broken off at the gum since taking Reclast.
I have an appointment with an oral surgeon to see what can be done about my missing teeth. Has anyone had experience getting implants or having their teeth pulled while on Reclast ?
Also my arm muscle pain and joint pain have increased progressively over the past few months. Is anyone having joint and muscle pain while on Reclast? Looking for information about these conditions !
Thank you,

@hlp123 May I ask if your teeth breaking is a direct result from taking Reclast? In 2009 or 2010 I had my Reclast infusion. I swore I'd never take it again due to the joint and muscle pain which began the day I had the infusion and continued with other issues. After the year was up I began Prolia & have been on it until now—NO side effects. I dread tomorrow morning, I have to switch from Prolia to Reclast and praying I don't have terrible side effects from it this time. I can tell you this about teeth—while on Prolia I had dental work done throughout the years with no problems until an extraction 2 yrs ago. I wanted an implant but my oral surgeon refused. She said the implant won't hold over time and numerous patients came back with the implant in their hands. My only option was a bridge (upper left) which then required replacement of a bridge on the (lower left). I wish I could stay on Prolia but will keep you informed about Reclast. Sending you my very best!

Please keep us posted on the transition and I hope it all goes well. May be the drug has improved in all these years.

I have been on Prolia for7 to 8 years with no side effects or breaks. I am trying to figure out what the best segue drug is. I took one fosamax and felt I was going to give birth to a large metal cyliner, in other words bad reaction! Looking for ideas and wondering about Evenity or Reclast.

I would appreciate those who have transitioned opinions. I have no problem with dental work. Thanks!

I understand ! These decisions are very difficult, especially since I am learning that we all seem to respond differently to these drugs. The pain I had while on Prolia was Severe, in my joints and muscles. Side effects from the Reclast are much less severe. I honestly do not know if my tooth breaking off was a result of the Reclast. My oral surgeon and my dentist and my endocrinologist each has a different opinion on the subject. Keep in touch and perhaps we can help each other. Good Luck to you !!!!

Also, I would like to know any information about having the roots removed from the two teeth I had that broke off at the gum this year while I was on Reclast. Is this considered an invasive procedure?
Thank you,

I would definitely say that is an invasive procedure.

I had an infusion of Reclast in March of 2022. In October I had one root extraction performed by an oral surgeon. He said he felt it was important to remove the root while on an antibiotic and using a mouth rinse in case it became infected, so even though I had started Reclast, he felt that this invasive procedure needed to be done. My gum has healed well and so far so good. However, I have four more teeth that need to be removed and the roots extracted. I am very cautious about any invasive procedures. I also need to have my shoulders replaced. Let me know how you are doing.
