I have side effects from Mantle Cell treatment with Rituxan

Posted by janelle80 @janelle80, Mar 28 2:08pm

Does anyone have red painful, itching bumps on their body? I have had Immunotherapy of Rituxan, and wonder if this has caused my symptoms?
Thank you,
Janelle

hi Janelle - that sounds really uncomfortable. I would let your oncology team know asap. use that number they give you for emergencies outside of business hours. my mom had mantle cell lymphoma and I remember her having a reaction to one of her initial infusions. after that they increased the amount of benadryl they gave during her premeds and she was able to tolerate the rest of her cycles without issues. I hope you get some relief soon!

Ouch ! Sounds painful…Immunotherapy can cause skin reactions…contact your team…if you feel other stronger allergy type symptoms like swelling of throat, that could be an emergency…. Benedryl or Zyrtec are often prescribed …hope you find relief soon.

@janelle80, I added your question to the Blood Cancers support group (https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/blood-cancers-disorders/) where you can connect with other members living with mantle cell lymphoma and who have had treatment with rituxan like, @planaria @sweede536 @wileywright @jam5 and others.

Janelle, did you talk to your oncology team about the skin reaction? What solution did they offer? Can you continue treatment?
