I had a CT scan recently. I will not see my lung specialists until September. I'm assuming a lot of people have lung problems. Anyway I was wanting to ask a question to anyone and see if I can get any answers because I have seen the results on my portal. Is this the place to go to ask a question

maroa-b Did the medical team who ordered the scan say they would not review it till September? That does not seem right. I know they are the best to read to you the findings. We can look up the terminology written, but not the context of how it is viewed in our body. I had my 3- month follow-up scan for a couple spots and will ask them once it shows in the portal what they think. Sadly, I smoke and have live in smoggy southern California, so I expected lung issues of some type.

It's not normal to have a big gap between a scan and a follow up doctor's visit to discuss it. Did your primary care doctor order it? Feel free to ask your question(s).

Yes I thought so as well, such a big gap. I sent them a ? Are we concerned? Message threw my portal now I have to just wait. I mean it's fine. I am super patient. I'm just curious and if I could find out questions for it on the internet. I pasted my concern and the first thing that popped up was mayo clinic. So I thought I would try.

These are the findings.
There is however a new spiculated density-irregular nodule measuring less than 7 mm located in the left upper lobe. This is best observed on axial images 15 and 16 on series 3. No evidence of interstitial lung disease. No air trapping. No honeycomb
fibrosis. No significant bronchiectasis. No focal pulmonary infiltrates.

7++++Reference: Fleischner Society 2017 Guidelines for Management if Incidentally Detected Pulmonary Nodules in Adults
Solid Nodules
Single: Low risk - < 6mm - No routine follow-up
6-8mm - CT at 6-12 months then consider CT 18-24 months
>8mm - Consider CT, PET/CT, or Tissue sampling at 3 months

*March not match

CT scans pick up a lot more than X-rays. I have 50+ nodules that when first spotted on a CT had not shown up on an X-ray.

I do like seeing all the things that were “no” in your report. Lots of lung nodules are benign. Hopefully that will be the case for you. Yours is small. Often the first step is just to monitor your lungs with periodic CT scans to watch for any growth or changes. Praying for a positive outcome for you. September is an unusually long wait to discuss results.

Thank you for comments. I feel pretty positive. I was diagnosed with emphasema in March last year after 7 days in hospital,3 in ICU. The CT scan so no emphasema no bronchitis.

I meant to say * this CT scan shows no emphasema no bronchitis. Gosh it is just so much to understand about our lungs. It exhaust me. Praise to the people who study them because I just don't understand
