HU pills sticking together: What do you do?
My pills stick together in the bottle, I have never had this problem with other drugs. It’s annoying because I don’t want to touch them. I shake one into the cap, now I can’t 😣

Do you keep your pills in a bathroom? Possibly steam from a shower affects the pill bottle.
Some pills bottles have a small packet to absorb moisture. Maybe transfer into your HU bottle.
This hasn’t hasn’t with my HU pills, but does happen with my vitamin E…

7 ReactionsThe Google robot says:
Store hydroxyurea capsules at room temperature (68-77°F), in their original tightly closed container, away from light, heat, and moisture (not the bathroom) to maintain effectiveness; always keep them out of reach of children and pets, and handle with gloves if the capsule breaks or spills, washing hands thoroughly after.
Key Storage Guidelines
Temperature & Environment: Keep at room temperature (68-77°F or 20-25°C), in a cool, dry place, protected from direct light. Avoid storing in the bathroom due to humidity.
Original Container: Store capsules in the bottle they came in, with the lid kept tightly closed.

2 ReactionsI am wondering why it is dangerous to touch a hydroxyurea pill when we put it into our mouth and ingest it every day. I can see how a caution for someone not taking this pill may be in order. I put my hydroxyurea along with my other daily pills in a weekly pill holders. I have been taking hydroxyurea for 8 years. I touch them like all my other pills. I have never had any diverse effects. I never allow anyone else to touch them out of caution.

I've had the same thought. If its dangerous for someone else to touch, how dangerous is it to put in our bodies???
The capsule itself is just a gelatin shell like many of the pills we take. Pick it up and put it in your mouth and swallow it.
I’ve done this for two years with no problems. You should be fine.
If you have a silica pack from other pill containers, you can transfer that to the Hydrea bottle to absorb the moisture.

2 ReactionsThank you
The pharmacist told me only dangerous for others. Since we are taking the pill we already have the chemo in our bodies it won’t be an issue for us to touch them.

1 Reaction@bluegrasspv2018 I don't think there is a problem with the patient touching the medication, but make sure to thoroughly wash your hands afterwards so there is no chance of transferring to anyone else.
