How to treat possible infection?

Posted by gbear1953 @gbear1953, Nov 14, 2025

I have had LD for a few years but thought it was from my Afib but my echos proved it was not. I was given a script for socks but I actually have such a bad back, knee and other issues that putting on socks is just not possible. I have used the machine and I work out almost daily so swelling is not bad however my question is about infection.
Sometimes fluid builds into thin skinned sacks that burst and recently have been leaking and yucky! Now it is burning and bleeding.
Should I just lightly bandage or should I get antibiotic treatment?
See my primary Thursday the 20th (Hope she does not send me to a waiting list to see specialist (he diagnosed and prescribed socks and machine but not much else)

Thanks BTW I had radiation SBRT for prostate cancer in case it is related

Saw my primary and she took a swab but that was four days ago and I have not seen the lab results
In any case, it had scabbed over and seems ok
Now I am trying the machine again. It is cumbersome but I will try
Wrapped in in a pink bandage I saw on Amazon that has zinc oxide and calamine and kept it on two days. Very had to wrap however with my bad knee hip and back
feet seem to have the worst of it and they look like Flintstone feet. I am now a size 16 shoe mostly from swelling
I am thinking this crap is chronic and something I must live with. My main issue is the weeping sore that just does not want to heal or heals only to come back
I sent message to my PA hope to see results but do not think it was infected as it scabbed up

@gbear1953 Sorry it took so long but I cannot get online in the city because I only use the phone. At my upstate place I can use my PC
Anyway, Lab showed mild growth but it was just average bacteria nothing harmful so I did make appointment with lymp doctor and I have been using comp machine
Seems now most swelling is in the feet. My wife rubs my feet for ten minutes each night we go to be (yeah she is a special woman) Seems to help plus I use zinc oxide a little triple antibiotic and my wife got some wound ointment called "Ammonia lactate" for her leg sore (not LD)
Plus I use water pill torsemide for 2-3 days and it heals a bit
I guess LD doctor will refer me to clinc for massage

Gee gonna get a hip replacement in Feb and my knee is going to maybe folllow plus my low back and sciatica is flaring badly so yeah! I need this like a hole in the head

Thanks all

Glen
