How to regain muscle ?

Posted by ronludington @ronludington, Apr 15 10:28am

After being on prednisone on and off for 8 years, now currently taking kevzara and at 2.5 mg of prednisone. I attempted to see what my walking ability is. Before this, I would walk a mile in 20 minutes. (At 62) now I'm 70, and I was barely able to do 5 laps in my driveway (approximately 1/4 mile) in 10 minutes. And I was done, straight to my recliner. How in the world do I get any of my original back ? (Knowing those 8 years of age is a big factor)

It could help to try a creatine supplement and consider CoQ10 as well.

You may want to consider water exercise at your local Y, which will allow you to build muscle without the same stress on your joints as walking on pavement. Also, check with your doctor regarding the use of supplements because you don't want to add to any current medical conditions you may have in addition to the PMR that we know about.

It’s a process. I joined my local Y and began taking weight classes and using the elliptical. Gradually I was able to regain muscle and stamina. Keep at it!
