How to get diagnosed.

Posted by codakay @codakay, 5 days ago

Hi everyone,

I’m new to this starting in January. Everything I’ve read matches the bill(unfortunately ) to what’s going on with me. My Gp thinks I have it but he sent me to a neurologist. I can’t afford the 2k to get tested to rule it out . I got a referral for a rheumatologist. I’m just reaching out to see if anyone knows a faster way to get diagnosed. I don’t want the pain meds. I just need a diagnoses for work.

Also I’m on duloxetine. Tried gabapentin. Hated it.

Ask them to rule out reactivation of virus, .do you have a history of chickenpox, mono, or covid, The neurological pain from reactivation of these can mimic fibromyalgia, It is important to find out if they can find something that is treatable, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia after a bad bought of flu, for the best way of coping I found an organic Mediterranean diet and daily waking and light weights helped, as well as pacing activity, .too much exercise or activity made it worse and too little made it worse, Breathing exercises and guided imagry tapes by Belleruth Napersteak have been very helpful, .decreasing my toxic load has been helpful, I used EWG.org and consumer lab.com to find the least toxic products and foods, I keep plants like ferns and Sansevieria in my bed room to help clean the air and increase O2, I was able to continue working as a nurse until 2022 when I had too many other medical problems, I hope this helps, Tjey are doing more research all the time and I hope someday they will have better answers for fibromyalgia suffers,

I do not have a history. Had chicken pox once as a child and covid years ago, also once.

Thank you for all the other info. I’m starting a more Mediterranean diet today actually! My diet has been terrible since I’ve been in constant pain. My meds have helped a lot but I’ve been extremely stressed and it has gotten worse. I will absolutely look into the advice you have graciously shared.

I love the duloxetine. Massive help for me personally. With mental and physical. I did experience a lot of stress these last two months so I’m hurting quite a bit more.

I personally didn’t like the gabapentin. It made me walk worse than I was. I got the gaba from the er but my Dr switched me on to duloxetine
