How to determine procedure that caused a visual distortion
My visual distortion is constant, in the center of left eye, and looks like a flattened letter "X".
My recent procedures are related to repair of macular pucker, lamellar hole, and started with cataract surgery (Dec 2025) and then retinal surgeries (Jan 2026) which included a vitrectomy, epiretinal membrane peel, and insertion of gas bubble, and then most recently - YAG Capsulotomy (May 2026) by the cataract specialists. I was hoping the distortion would clear by within 48 hours, but nothing appears to have changed. I am not sure if I just need more healing time, or if I should see one of the doctors sooner than planned. I have been seeing this specific distortion since two weeks after the retinal procedures (Feb 2026). My next appts are scheduled with retinal specialist in 6 weeks, and cataract specialist in 5 months. Also, the cataract surgery was a prerequisite to the retinal procedure, even though I did not see the associated cloudiness that others with cataracts have described. Has anyone encountered a similar distortion? How do I know which doctor can fix it? Any advice appreciated.
