How long is your mouth sore after oral surgery?

About 3 months ago I had a tumor removed from the back of my mouth, the surgery went fine. However, it still hurts when I talk, eat,or even just swallow. I’m losing weight because I hate eating. I thought after 3 months I would kind of be back to normal. How long does it normally take to heal?

Hi Doug. Since you did not have Chemo or radiation, that should have healed up nicely by now in my lay opinion. Maybe a check with an ENT or your surgeon would be a good idea. Don’t put off pain too long, especially around the holidays.
Try eating anything you can easily get down such as warm custard or apple sauce etc. you need the calories to live and heal.

@doug58, I agree with @hrhwilliam. Have you talked to your surgeon about the pain you're experiencing? Have you worked with a speech pathologist?
