How long after radiation did it take to get your voice back?
I finished 29 rounds of radiation to the larynx for HPV related papillary squamous cell cancer to the right false cord 3 weeks ago. My voice went away during the last week of treatment and has not returned. My Dr. Scoped me 2 weeks post treatment and said everything is extremely swollen. He’s hoping it will go away and my voice will return, but I’m concerned. Has anyone else experienced prolonged hoarseness after radiation but eventually had their voice return?

@boo6 ease try to stay strong. I had 35 treatments of radiation in 2024 and chemo.
I did not eat side for almost 9 months. I did have smoothies.
After that I added porridge.
14 months since treatment I am now eating entirely of side. Still.have issues with crunchy or hard foods. I do quiches..and many soft foods.
It takes time to eat. I still need to chase everything with liquids as it gets stuck in my throat. There is a high risk of choking due to dry mouth and swallowing issues.
However looking back from.a year ago, I have improved a great deal. YOU WILL AS WELL. Please ket me know if you have any questions.
God Bless.
