How do you say goodbye

Posted by jdiakiw @jdiakiw, Jun 10, 2023

Tic toc,
I am ready
the clock is running down.

My batteries are dying
they are slow to recharge .
The lights are dimming
while my heart is ablaze
Ablaze with the joy of remembrance

After a remarkable recovery
from the edge of the abysss
I’m now flickering alight again
Thanks to an unconventional therapy
I am stable.

I emptied my bucket list
—Around the Red Sea and Saudi Arabia

My wish list now is just a dream.

But at rest I am full of life
But I have nothing more to offer.
I’ve given the best that I can
As I have been touched by many
I know I have touched many

I’m ready to rest
I’m ready to die.
I’m part of the millennial flow of time.
A time for living,
and a time for dying

Tic toc

I am spending my final days,
waiting happily
Knowing what a great ride it has been.

I weep sometimes at the beauty of it all
What a life!

I’m prepared to die.
I feel loved by many. . .
I have loved many,
I am blessed,
Tic toc I am ready

I have had all the love a man can have
I have loved with all my might
I leave a hundred friends
who would be here to help me die,
if asked.
You know who you are

I am ready.
I know it could be many more happy years
or just a few weeks
Even alive, there’s no more future, even if years to live
there is only the past
I am empty now of all creativity
I’m drained

I bask in the sun
Walk in the rain
I forest bath
I am too weak to attempt much more.
There is a pleasant weariness
with living out the fin
Reflection on long gone days
has a certain sweetness
A source of exquisite joy
of gratitude
Leaving it all behind
I’ve told all my stories
I have nothing left to say.

Dying with love,
without pain
is like dozing off on a beach
with the the sound of lapping waves
the warmth of summer sun.
the giggles and screams of children,
a loved on nearby.
My eyes close.
It goes on forever.

I am filled with "Hygge",
-for those feelings or moments
of togetherness,
of relaxation, of pleasure.

We all know what it is like
to lose beloved family and friends.
We have all practised this many times.
They have been rehearsals for losing one’s closest loves

I leave them in good hands
Confident of their place in life.
At my age they all know it is my time
At 87 it will not be a surprise

Whether a week or a decade.
They are ready.
I don’t need another day, another week another year.
I am ready.
I gift them our memories together

Remarkable writing, artful, thoughtful and carefully considered.
For me, my thought in addition is; I’m ready for that Graduation when He decides the time is right. Until then I joyfully walk in the Way, and share sanctos momentos with those I meet.
