How do you handle your appearance asyou age?
I don't want to sound vain, or anything like that, but it looks like I aged overnight. I need dental work , that doesn't help much, but I'm almost so self conscious I don't want to go out anywhere.
I've always taken care of my skin, with creams etc. But the wrinkles just seemed to of came on.
I know this probably sounds like I care to much for looks but I feel ashamed of myself

Not to worry. I just wanted to clarify what I meant by that phrase. I was not very clear. We're good!

1 Reaction@danae25 I started getting Jennifer Connolly’s Well Styled Life newsletters. I’ve found them to be helpful in regards to creating a wardrobe at my age of 75. The only difference is that I find similar clothes at Kohl’s and TJ Maxx and a few at JC Penney’s that saves me a ton of money. I also buy gently worn Talbot’s clothes on eBay. I’m 5’4” but have short legs and have been thrilled that Kohl’s sells many pant brands in short. It’s such a pleasure not to have to hem pants!

3 ReactionsThank you very much for your tips. I am also short and I know that search for short pants. I have also purchased from Lands End which sells petite plus sizes. I will try each of these stores and check out Ms. Connolly.
I don't know about what kind of life you have had but every wrinkle that I have I earned through hard knocks and I have stopped worrying about them. I bought a good concealer.

3 Reactions@kildaren96 Thank you for naming products that work for you. I see there is a great deal of interest in the Korean skincare. I have spent some money on Neutrogena products. There are too many products to choose from. I wanted to try retinol to get rid of a few dark spots. My skin is thin and ultra-sensitive. Many products irritate it and layers make me hot (not in a good way). Most sunscreens are too thick for me. Cera Ve and La Roche-Posay (works well for my sister) are too thick. I prefer a light but not watery moisturizer (Aveeno Oat Gel) and have been using Neutrogena healthy skin anti-aging perfector to cover those dark spots (daytime). It is tinted, has SPF 20 and retinol. Also Rapid Tone Repair with retinol + vitamin C (night). I live up north and wear a hat when I am in the sun for long periods.

1 Reaction@danyysienna111 Thank you!!! This stuff is confusing to me.
Me too. But I am learning to accept myself and I have to remember my age. I am 76. I'm not 25 anymore so it's really hard but I try to just accept the way I am and hopefully you can do the same with me it's more of a problem with the issue of mobility as I used to be very active and can't do it now and also the issue of loneliness and thinking about the past bad choices I have made to land me where I am today. Wishing you the best and hoping you get over this feeling of the aging as I am trying to do. It's very difficult. Hang in there

2 Reactions@babbsjoy They put me on Metformin, when I tipped the diabetes scale, and suggested a 1400 calorie/day diet. Told me not to focus on carb counting, but I had already been reading labels for awhile, trying to keep sugar, fat and sodium down. I was eating healthy. This time, I focused on portion control, journaling for the first week. The weight came off fairly easily. NP thinks the Metformin helped. I know it was the portion control. Some foods surprised me by having flavor from fat, not carbs, and I found I could add them back into my diet as long as I didn't overdo it. (Have to watch the LDL too) I can't munch mindlessly anymore while at the computer. I give it the 20 minute test after eating to see if I am still hungry, which I am not. I clean or fix something when stressed instead of eating. Now I see they want you to walk immediately after eating instead of digesting your food on the couch but I probably won't do that. Like Oprah, I have a weakness for good breads, so I choose to eat open faced sandwiches and give up crackers, donuts, cakes and cookies. I have to intentionally eat protein, as it is not my first choice. My taste buds have changed. You do get over sugar and salt excess pretty easily. Sugar does cause inflammation so things that used to hurt might not hurt so much. Good luck to you. Caregiving takes a lot out of you. Be kind to yourself. Sleep helps.

2 Reactions@babbsjoy As hard as it is caring for someone else, it is also kind of a blessing. I got to know my father on a whole different level and the time we spent together is a treasure in my memory. I hope you are getting help in this journey. It sounds like you appreciate the things around you.
@danae25
