hotel Shuttles from hotel to Clinic etc
Will be going with husband who is being evaluated for his MCI in Neuro Department at Mayo...Alzheimer Dept.
Trying to navigate all the variables.....hotel has a shuttle that starts at 515am which is awesome considering first appt is at 615am for an MRI.
when there is a shuttle service from the hotel.....do we tip the driver??? if so what amount?
also the first day is jammed with appts....but for next 3 days....not many appts listed. Is that for add on appts???
Any other tips for this first time at Mayo in Alzheimer section of Neurology?

@tdrell: Sorry to hear you're going through tis type of evaluation for your husband, but he's in with the top specialists at Mayo. Which campus are you at: Jacksonville, Rochester or Phoenix? I actually had an appointment last week here where I live in Scottsdale, part of the greater Phoenix campus, that was made for a neuro eval with a doctor who specializes in Alzheimers, although that was not the reason for my consultation. However, I do have to say, he was extremely knowledgable and provided an exceptionally thorough and comprehensive neuro eval.
At any rate, no matter what state you're in, it's been my experience that no Mayo employee accepts or expects a gratuity of any kind. What I think would be most appreciated in cases of exceptional service would be a note of recognition, but even that is not expected as they're well aware that clients who come to Mayo are there due to significant medical concerns.
I'd like to help you out with your question about days being jammed with appointments that apparently are not clearly listed. Can you provide more detail about what add-on appointments may be or some of what you do have scheduled?
Ooops….. we will be going to Mayo in Rochester.
Really not complaining re schedule….realize that getting major scans and Lab work upfront is essential….thanks for offer
Usually you do tip the hotel driver. They work for the hotel and do not make a great wage.
@tdrell: You'll find that Mayo operates like a well-oiled machine and they'll take very good care of your husband, informing you of every detail alowng the way. It does help to bring along a notepad or booklet as the information can be overwhelming. I have a type of loosleaf binder for the condition I'm treating for that I can add files to - whether it's lab reports, post-office visit notes I've downloaded off the portal, medication information, articles, my own questions tagged to various dates of service.
As for tipping, I see it may vary depending on who is providing the service. According to a friend I met through Mayo who does stay at the Residence Inn located to the Clinic facilities there, she's found tipping to be largely optional. So it does appear that it's up to the individual though not expected.
I hope all goes well. Let me know how you found your experience overall.
