Hotel at Mayo Scottsdale: Recommendations please.

Posted by katertucker @katertucker, May 31, 2023

The hotel is apparently under renovation.
Anyone staying there? Is it bearable?

I won't have a vehicle and flying in so thought on site would be easiest but some renovations make a stay very unpleasant.

Thank you

@katertucker Mayo Scottsdale is close to Fountain Hills. I believe there is a hotel there too. It’s a small area so you shouldn’t have trouble getting around.
Make sure to bring your sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen!

There’s also a free shuttle for Mayo people that runs between the Mayo Scottsdale Campus and the Mayo Phoenix Hospital & Clinic. You should check that out!

When I go to Phoenix I stay at the Embassy Suites Phoenix-Scottsdale. It is on the golf course with a fantastic view of the mountains and it is a short drive or Uber to Mayo. It is quiet and well managed and staying there makes my trip more pleasant. I always get an even numbered room on floor 3-6 as the view is better. I now live north of LA. But I lived in Phoenix for more than 50 years and I enjoy my return visits. I am just a Hilton customer and not a shareholder. Enjoy as much as possible as we attack this cancer SOB.

Hi I might also mention that the Scottsdale campus is not walking distance to fountain Hills. But there is also a Hotel at the Main Campus that's a Mariott and the Mayo shuttle runs between the 2 Campuses. I live in southern Arizona and have often stayed up near the Hospital but never knew there was a hotel near the Scottsdale campus which is not a 24 hour campus. Its mainly for testing day surgery & office visits for certain specialties. So it seems that hotel must be fairly new I don't remember seeing it the last time i was there. which has been in the last 2 years. But I do see it on the map, and it looks like about a quarter of a mile walk to the Scottsdale campus. Not sure if shuttle service is available to the Hotel but maybe the Hotel might have something. Ill be interested in you thoughts about it as I may also use it next time I stay up there.
The Marriot at the Main Hospital is a bit expensive and usually when I stay up there, I have a car so we stay in a couple of hotels about 2 miles from the main campus. Most of my appointments are at the main Hospital or the other buildings near the Hospital. There are 3 buildings at the Main Campus in Phoenix. Good Luck and if I can help with any questions about the area please feel free.

Thank you. I didn't realise there was a shuttle between the 2. That helps.
The hotel on-site has bad reviews and is under renovation. Thinking I might stay at the Aiden as it is within walking distance to whatever I would need.

I was thinking of staying at Fountain Hills. Seemed like a quick Uber to get there and a week of room stays paid for by my insurance will help me rack up hotel points!!

I used an uber once when my car got stranded at the Hospital so they should be available. Not sure how early tho at least for me usually i have to get labs like by 730ish in the morning. Depending on the chain I usually stay at the Holiday inn express or Camby right next door (no free breakfast there tho) near the main hospital. there are a lot of restaurants just across the street in a full size mall. Its on East Irma Lane and they have a Mayo discount. its 2 miles from the main hospital. Plus since I can't eat at buffets the attendant usually will get me my own plate from the back. a little tip helps on that. Anyway enjoy, actually a great time of the year as in the summer you get the best deals in the Phoenix area as it the off season. Wintertime all prices double.

I saw that location and it looked good, close to anything I will need.

I am on prednisone and it makes my brain mushy. The least miles I need to drive to get stuff the better.
