Hello @gg17, your caution may be correct in this case. From Mayo Clinic's website, "Do not take other medicines unless they have been discussed with your doctor. This includes prescription or nonprescription (over-the-counter [OTC]) medicines and herbal (eg, St. John's wort) or vitamin supplements." https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/ibrutinib-oral-route/precautions/drg-20084873. As with any medication, it is always best to discuss any supplements or additional medications with your provider or a pharmacist. Was your provider aware you were also prescribed prednisone? Perhaps he or she could find a hormone replacement therapy that would be safe with ibrutinib?
@gg17
Here is a list we should not take while on Ibrutinib. Gestodene seems to be similar to progesterone. Please help with above quest regarding hormone replacement. The only thing I would like to take is an estrogen to help protect bones. However, good old calcium, vitamin K and magnesium might serve just as well. Just got constipation from previous use. Pleas advise!
