HoLAP procedure and question.

Posted by shoelace @shoelace, 1 day ago

I'll be having the HoLAP (not HoLEP) procedure in a month. I wanted to hear from others who may have had the HoLAP as far as how their procedure went for them and also how their post op for the first few months went? Thank you

The $64 question: If it is not "E" enucleating, what is it? Hopefully a new more patient friendly procedure that preserves the post-surgical function down there? Thanks for your contribution!

Post opp healing for me was very slow. It took 3 months to figure out why I wasn’t healing but the surgeon finally figured out that a crust had formed in my valve opening due to bladder stone crystals that I was passing after surgery. He suggested that I take an alkalizer to dissolve the crust. After a week or so the crust broke free, I had very bloody urine for a day, the next day I had a lot of flakes in my urine, then the healing finally began. It took 6 more weeks to get to the point to where I didn’t have to wear pads anymore to soak up the leakage.
I had bladder stones because I was unable to fully empty bladder for such a long time before the surgery. I suggest to anyone that has bladder stones to try to get rid of those stones before the surgery. Also start doing Kegle exercises prior and after surgery to help strengthen the valve muscles. The muscles become weak due to your enlarged prostate constricting the flow and not having to work very hard to stop the flow.
Good luck with your surgery!

Two weeks out and the Flood seems to be drying up. I can go 5 minutes w/o drowning and saturating a fifteen square mile plot of earth. GLORY! GLORY!

@shark Ablation. I think more like greenlight. I think it's used more on the "smaller size" prostates that still cause bph. Will let you know how it goes.
