High kidney pressure

Posted by tallchick60 @tallchick60, Apr 13 8:24pm

I got my kidney pressure and it is high. Around 43-50. Normal is 12-20. O also have tested positive for BK virus. But I haven’t had a transplant before. I have tons of inflammation around my kidney too. I’m scared out of my mind on what all this means. So far my kidney function is okay Least it was over a year ago. My blood work is ok too. Not great but decent. Anyone else have high kidney pressure?

@tallchick60 I am curious what prompted your medical team to check your renal blood pressure? From what I have read, when the arteries that supply blood to your kidneys are compromised, it may be caused by a blockage of some sort, in your case perhaps the inflammation. What is your nephrologist advising you to do? Have you had any bloodwork within this last year, and how does your eGFR for kidney function look?

From the National Kidney Foundation, here is information about the BK virus: https://www.kidney.org/atoz/content/bk-virus-what-transplant-patients-need-know#:~:text=BK%20virus%20is%20a%20virus,a%20problem%20for%20most%20people.
As you can see, you don't need to be a transplant patient to have an active case of this. What is your doctor telling you to address this going forward? I'd like to know!
