High heart rate after TKR

Posted by Vickie B @vkyboo, Mar 24 7:48am

My normal resting heart rate was 59 to 62 prior to TKR 4 weeks ago. For the past couple of weeks my average is between 84 and 87 every day. Has anyone else had this issue?

Hi Vickie,

I had both knees replaced in 2022 at age 67 and they are doing great. I hope your heart rate is better, although I don't know what would cause such an increase. I watch my HR closely and didn't have an increase after the TKRs.

How is your new knee? I do hope all is well.

@vkyboo I don’t see what issue you’re concerned about regarding your HR. Our HR fluctuates throughout the day just like our BP does. Your elevated HR into the 80’s is still normal. And why are you so concerned with your HR? I’m a retired nurse and unless you have a cardiac condition where your docs have asked you to track your rate why are you doing this? What method are you using to calculate your HR?
