High fasting glucose of 115 after 7 mos on Orgovyx

Posted by tomdom @tomdom, 2 days ago

psa is .008 down from 23 with Gleason of 8. Completed 44 radiation treatments. Is high glucose common with Orgovyx? Don't want to start treatment of high A1C if it will go down after hormone treatment completed. Will be on Orgovyx for another 1 1/2 years.;

Thank you. I didn't realize there was a short term protocol available. My obvious concern was that once I started on a diabetes drug I would have to always take it even though my glucose returned to normal after stopping Orgovyx.

That is type 2 diabetes and can be reversed with diet and no longer taking a drug that causes it. Same with lipids. 115 isn't awful. Actually, 105-115 is my prediabetic normal and don't take anything for it and my providers don't push any drugs on me. Which I wouldn't anyway. Statins mess with your liver and can cause leg and hip pain. I hate taking pharma drugs but sometimes they are needed.

After I started Lupron my fasting blood sugar was 115 and Kaiser called me prediabetic. They signed me up for a diet class for getting my diabetes under control. I stopped Eating ice cream with chocolate syrup every night. It Was a couple years before I started eating a salad a day every day because my A1c was 5.8 for 2 months.

Kale was supposed to be particularly good so I eat that every day.

I’ve been to at least three webinars that have discussed what is best to eat when you have prostate cancer. The Mediterranean diet was the minimum recommended diet, vegetarian was the preferred method. All of them discussed stopping red meat and dairy, though low-fat and nonfat milk was ok . You can probably find them on YouTube looking for PCRI, PCF (Prostate cancer foundation) and Zero.
