I am having a VERY difficult time with Klonipin withdrawal

Posted by lisalynn @lisalynn, Jun 29, 2023

I have been on Klonipin for a BIG Panic disorder for over 15 years. I recently had to wean down off of 3 to none fast. The withdrawal was the worst thing that has ever happened to me. I have my normal prescription now. However, at a lower level. But, I am still having a withdrawal symptom that is plaguing me. I am still taking it, but half of what I had been. I hear my Heart thumping in my ears, very loud and fast, 120 beats per minute. Did anyone else have that symptom? Or describe their withdrawal? Oh, and I NEVER want to speak to that new and cold Psychiatrist I have.
Struggling. Thanks.

I have been on Klonopin for 25 years at 2mg per day and want to get off of this horrible medication. My GP here doesn't know how to help me and since I live in a small town we don't have any therapists that would be able to help me as well. I do not wish to go to a rehab center and need support through what I am going to be going through over the next year.

I believe @shelbym was addressing Klonopin and you cut the pills with a pill cutter. I actually snap mine on in halves and quarters with my hands. Not as accurate as using a pill cutter.

That's one of my main problems as when I was originally prescribed this it was for panic attacks when I would get into bed at night over 20+ years ago. There was an association with losing my dog after 17 years and the bed...so long story short...yes, I was originally prescribed this to shut down my mind and panic attacks at 1mg and now at 2mg. Try to get away from both if you can.

I believe you!!! I have done a lot of research and even sent a link to my GP for help. I have an appointment on 09/02 with him...soo we will see how it goes.
I tried to drop my 2mg to 1.5mg last night and I got really sick. That's how bad this drug is. I can do 1.75 with no issues.

It did not go well last night. Now I have to start from scratch at 2mg because when I attempted 1.5mg last night I got very ill. The best way that worked for me was .25mg less for a month and then another .25mg drop but, can't make it below 1.5mg over the last year. I keep hitting brick walls.

I found that out the hard way by dropping that quickly.

I have read the Ashton manual and am also following Dr Josef Witt-Doerring Psychiatrist With the Taper Clinic. His Youtube videos and taper workbook are really interesting and helpful. Have you heard of him or watched any of his videos? I am going to need all the help I can get.

I think that your reply was meant for me as I can't find an active @nicole1971 since 2013?

I will do that and I am soo happy with your progress. Thank you for being here for me.
I will print the manual but, my GP has a lot of patients and only four of his patients are on benzos so, he didn't seem interested in doing homework to educate himself on benzos. The only reason he took me on as a patient is because my other one retired. Most doctors her in the Panhandle won't prescribe benzos. Very frustrating for me and scary for me.

I didn't know that as well about the antidepressants. I guess not one size fits all with withdrawal. I was on an antidepressant and all I know is that completely altered my outgoing personality to a zombie like state. Thank goodness I stopped taking that years ago.
