Hemorrhagic stroke: What have you experienced afterward?

After a brain bleed stroke could anyone tell me what others are experiencing?

Do you have Centr Poststroke Pain,CPSP from your stroke? I sure hope you don't. I do from an ischemic stroke 4.5yrs ago.
It iz awful!! Anyone else out there suffering from CPSP ?more common with ischemic stroke affecting pain relay centervin brain, thalamus and spino-thalamic nerve pathway supposedly.
I currently take gabapentin but still have the brain" creating the pain".

I had a hemorrhagic stroke 7 years ago. My left side was impaired and it took months of therapy to learn to walk without assistance. My left arm and leg are often hypersensitive to touch, and my left foot feels different on a daily basis. Sometimes it feels like I’m stepping on a rock and other times I’m unstable. It’s frustrating to try to plan physical activity, but at least I can walk!

Yes brain bleed = hemorrhagic stroke. Caused by blood vessels that break or leak killing Brain cells because they cant get oxygen.

Victoria, To my knowledge, a grain breed = hemorrhagic stroke. A heard my brother’s neurologist use both terms when discussing his case.

My sister had brain bleed, and I thought this was a hemorrhagic stroke, but now was told no. Can anyone clarify the distinction for me

Winjki, Glad you pulled through and are doing well. My brother is healthy as well before he had his stroke in October 2025 too. But he had several months of headaches leading up to it. Physician ordered a MRI which was normal. After the stroke, his PCP felt badly—perhaps he had missed something—but he truly followed normal protocol. Wondering if you had headaches before or after your stroke.

@barbaradh no headaches after stroke....but immediately before I had headache. I took ibuprofen which is a mistake! One of the side effects of aspirin and ibuprofen is increased permeable of blood vessels...do not take an NSAID for headache take acetaminophen....ask your doctor

To Linda Mangan 13, you noticed slight twitching on left side of face, thinking they might have been mini seizures, right? What side was stroke affected? Did twitching cover your whole face? Or just one area? My stoke was on right side. I have twitching under my left eye. The neurologist thought this was due to anxiety and not stroke related. I had the twitching years ago when I tried to do trigonometry! Every stroke is different!

I’m seeing the neurologist on Aug 10th, thankfully I was conscious for both seizures, but I am noticing twitches in the left side of my face, and did think they may have been very slight really mini seizures, I read about keppra xr and am hoping she will swop me to those, otherwise I’m fine and pg, I won’t have anymore seizures, thank you so much for sharing your information, I wish you all the best on your recovery, Linda
