Help Please: What are these Brown Spots on Skin?

not sure what these are but more of them seem to just appear. had some before but more seem to appear

Hi @baglle43, as a community of patients, we're not in a position to diagnose. You mention that you've had some of these spots before, but now more are appearing. Have you been to see your doctor about these when you first noticed them?

the doctor said they dont look like much. but its strange to me that they seem to be in different places. i hope its not much of anything

I’d see a dermatologist and have them evaluated. You never really know. I’ve all kinds of things diagnosed by my dermatologist. Last year I had about a half dozen dark spots appear on my neck. Turns out, it was yeast! A little medication and they vanished. What a relief.

Another time, a spot on my temple was diagnosed as Basel Cell Carcinoma. I had it removed with Moh’s surgery. So, you never know until it’s properly evaluated.

Hey There! I definitely would see a Dermatologist. These could be as simple as lovely age spots called "seborrheic keratosis" or "actinic keratosis" from sun exposure. Have you been out in the sun a lot or tanned a lot over the years? I have gotten more of both of these with age, especially on my arms. I have had skin cancer as well that looked like absolutely nothing, but was basal cell carcinoma, due to my sun exposure. Please get these checked.

If mine (keratosis) itch or become irritated, my Dermatologist removes them with liquid nitrogen (Cryotherapy). It burns like the dickens for a few minutes, but, heals nicely and I've had no scarring from removal.

One of your spots appears to be asymetric and I would definitely get that checked.

I have fair Irish skin and had a lot of sunburns as a youngster when our idea of sunscreen was baby oil with iodine in it to make you look tan.
All that said as a preamble to the bill coming due for that now. I have a ton of keratosis, and a couple of spots that were pre-cancerous. A lot of the keratosis can be frozen and it is still not normal afterwards but after healing is reddish like a sunburn and then a light color afterwards.

I agree, time to see a dermatologist or other doctor. The picture is difficult to see. I had something similar, my doctor says it is senior purpura. I bruise very (very) easily. Sometimes the spots bleed if my dog’s nails hit me the wrong way. My bruises are dark then change color gradually. I get them on my hands and arms only

I go to a dermatologist at least once a year to have a skin cancer check. Medicare pays for a couple of visits a year. So my worrisome brown spots end up not being a worry!

Do you have a good doctor and/or dermatologist that you can trust?

Oh yea I have that too - like a shallow blood blister from any friction - like opening an Amazon box. Maddening.
