Hi Im new to the group. I was diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica in 2021 and I was 53 years old. I used to love the summer and now I dread it. I cant sit out in the sun as I cannot control my body temp. I never had a sweating problem I now profusely sweat feel nauseous and drained. I become really depressed and irritated. I also am a dinner for insects and the bites become septic and in 2021 I ended up in hospital due to infected bites. Anyone else suffer from heat intolerance

@tuckerp I refuse medication as the side effects are worse than the condition. I use CBD oil which dulls the pain and do Tia Chi which helps immensely. Mine is also menopausal too. Ta for short abrupt response

I was diagnosed in March 2025. Last summer I would sweat profusely if I went outside. It was a major change for me because I always used to be too cold -- a constant joke among my friends. I'm down to 5mg of Prednisone now so I hope it will be better this year.

I began taking prednisone a little over a year ago and am now tapering successfully, down to 3 mg. I walk daily for exercise, 3 or 4 miles. Last summer on a very hot (for New England) day I became extremely ill after walking in the heat. Felt like I had the flu. It took me 3 or 4 days to recover. I was more careful after that, but I have learned that my heat tolerance is shot. I am apprehensively curious how the current lower dose will affect things. My wife reminded me of the pattern when I was wasted after gardening in the sun on a warm day this spring.
