Heart Rate up from Inguinal Hernia?

Posted by artsoto @artsoto, Jan 2, 2023

I had a Bilateral inguinal hernia on Friday, I was hurting a little on Friday after surgery, Saturday as well, with normal heartbeats, but Sunday I noticed my heart rate was high in the 120's when walking and doing some minor chores around house. When I'm laying down it's between 80-95 BPM, I was under anesthesia for 2 hours, I don't have any heart problems that I know of. I'm wondering if it's part of the recovery process or should I go see a doctor?

Good morning @artsoto Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I’m sure you’re relieved to have the surgery out of the way. If you were fine the first day after surgery, and now finding your heart rate is higher, are you getting enough hydration in your system? Electrolyte imbalance can have similar symptoms. But, it’s been a few days now, and if you’re still feeling uncomfortable with the heart rate it’s better to call your doctor to get their opinion. Has your heart rate returned to normal?
