Heart Failure. Now not??

Posted by oliver8112000 @oliver8112000, 3 days ago

After having a 2nd echo w/ contrast send Jan this year. Around 2nd week I think Mr Cardiologist office, not him, called me to tell me I was in HF!! Start Entresto 2 pills 1 am 1 pm first week then add Carvedilol nd week 1 am and 1 pm. Hit me like a brick had problem w/Entresto. Said stop it and only take 2 Carvedilol. Bothered me . SE said take 1 at night. Meantime he DX me w/ high cholesterol in April 2023 took 5mg Rosuvastatin M-W-F. He originally wanted me on 20mg everyday. I weigh 87lbs. FYI have bad Neuropathy. So shortly after finding out I have Heart Failure (I am 64 had AML Leukemia tx with Bone Marrow Transplant in 1981, chemo, etc Breast Cancer 2007 Double Mastectomy 2008 silicone implants were placed, they ruptured and leaked and were removed 2015. So he tells me something about Mitral Valve Prolapse. End up in ER Hospital 3/2-3/5 thinking I am having heart attack or a stroke. End up bk in RR 5/4-5/14.
Many tests. Turns out my Ejection fracture is 60%!!! Eight weeks ago it was 35%!! NO Heart Failure!!! How Ann this be. I had even stopped taking not only the Carvidilol but also the Rosuvastatin. I had read that Statins can worsen symptoms in people with Neuropathy and in my case looking back after stating it my symptoms went down hill. So back to this Hospital stay, my left Carotid Artery is now 75% blocked! Eight weeks ago it was 50%. They want me to take Plavix 75mg and test again in 6 months!! They say 1-3% chance I could stroke on table. Yes I could also stroke at home in 2 weeks at this rate. Thoughts. Mind Blowing. I think. My first Cardiologist dropped the ball personally. He could not even call me himself or make an appointment to tell me about the so called Heart Failure. SMH. 🤦‍♀️

Hi @oliver8112000

It sounds like you sorting so much. I am sorry you are dealing with this. It does not sound like you are getting clear answers.

I have been learning about heart failure but am certainly no expert. The name sounds so, so shocking and in most cases is something developing over time. “Sometimes, you may have mild symptoms of congestive heart failure or none at all. This doesn’t mean you don’t have heart failure anymore. Symptoms of heart failure can range from mild to severe and may come and go.”

I found a summary that may help: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/17069-heart-failure-understanding-heart-failure

Do you know what type of heart failure you have?

Are you having symptoms currently?

TY. It is very confusing. Can you have HF and in 8 weeks you no longer have it with little to no drug treatment?

I also think heart failure is so hard on patients especially when they are trying to recover personally I would like them then to call it heart recovery. I think it would be awesome if they could you know call it heart failure/heart recovery because like you said the patient would be aware that it comes and goes it gets worse it gets better. Just an observation as a patient and as a friend of people with heart failure

In May of 2022, I was awaken with chest pain and pressure with nausea. I went to ER and was ultimately diagnosed with Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy. After having an echocardiogram I was diagnosed with ejection fraction of 38%. Was prescribed Sotalol. After 3 months my ejection fraction recovered to 53%. I have to take Sotalol still but changed from Plavix to Eliquis.

Hi
Just awful experience. Recovery please fo you.
Everyone with heart problems or on Beta Blockers should have a PRO-BNP heart blood test.

Why I say that is on just 2.5 Bisoprolol I was 198 Level last September. I was on Bisoprolol since February 2021.
At this 198 Level I was heading for Heart Block or Heart Failure.

BP went low in October - I was dizzy on bending over and picking up in table tennis and I had odd vision with eyes closed after a short walk.

On Cardiologist advice (I was discharged as outpatient December 2023) I reduced to stop Bisoprolol. Well that was the advice on very low H/Rate.

So on 2.5mg Bisoprolol. Level 198
So on 1.25mg. " " Level 103
So on NIL Bisoprolol Level 89

Optimum Level under 100.

Beta Blockers are known to make heart produce more PROTEIN PEPTIDE which is a STRESS marker.

I can only pass this knowledge on. No more Beta Blockers for me and I remain on CCB Diltiazem 120 CD. I take it early morning.

I found I didn't get tired and no indication of an afternoon sleep.

It will be interesting yo see what my cholesterol level and tryglycerides Level are.

I've asked to have another ECHO in October.

We need to spread the word of what some meds do to each and every one to us.

Hello,
Absolutely have to spread the word. Also about Hospital Stays. This past stay was 5/4 - 5/14 total 10 days. First bed partner was incontinent. She really should have been in a private room. Then at 2:00am they said they needed a bed on the Cardiac Floor and they could move me to another floor. So move me to 1st Floor . My bed partner has pneumonia. So the past couple of days I have been feeling flu like. Now I have something. A bad bad cold or flu. I know I caught from the second bedmate. She said her and husband were at a street gathering and she and two of her girlfriends also have pneumonia. 🤔 I say all Hospitals should have private rooms. Too many chances to spread germs. Also when you’re sick, if your like me , they mean well, but no visitors. 🙏🏻♥️
