Hearing music that’s not playing

Posted by sandylee49 @sandylee49, Aug 15 1:54pm

I lost my husband 2 months ago and since then I’ve been hearing music play in my head all the time. It keeps me up at night and exhausted. Has anyone had this happen before

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your husband--that can be devastating in so many ways and a shock to all your systems. When my first husband died I was still relatively young--41. In the following days I did have some mild visual hallucinations from all the stress. Hearing music that isn't playing can have numerous causes. It could be a combo of stress, grief, and lack of sleep. But it is important to check it out with your usual doctor. A hearing test might be useful, too. Once you get checked out medically, you might want to consider a grief group or other support. How are you doing right now? Can you talk to friends or family? On the practical sleep level, playing a recording of white noise or waves or nature sounds can help. Keep in touch with us here at Connect when you feel like it.

Auditory hallucinations can be a manner of self protection from profound grief. It might be possible to alleviate this sound by listening to an alternate piece of music, one you find more relaxing. Your mind may be wanting to fill a silence. I'm sorry for your deep loss and for the grief that wants to etch its way into every molecule of being. I think the music will stop, it did for me. Are you hearing the same piece over and over? Mine was varied. Is it faint or distinct. Bless your struggle.

Hi Sandylee49,
I'm so sorry to hear of your husband dying. I know that's very hard for you. My husband died a year ago. It's a sad time for us. But they are up in Heaven and we will be reunited eventually. However, it's very lonely in the meantime.

I'm sorry about you hearing music all the time. My friend had this happen also. She was very ill and was given a lot of vaccines. She thought the vaccines could have been the reason for her hearing the music. She died before any reason for her hearing the music could be determined. Have you talked to your doctor about this? Also read the side effects of all of your medications and supplements you are taking. That may give you some insight.

I would suggest praying about this too. God made you and he can fix you. God is always there for us. We just need to ask. I will say a prayer for you also.

I wish you the best.
