Hi, @cjval52. I wanted to let you know I moved your post to its own discussion to bring attention to it so that others who've talked about hemorrhoids can join in with any experience or research they have done about the pros and cons of the infrared hemorrhoid treatment, also called infrared photocoagulation.

Tagging a few Mayo Clinic Connect members who have talked about hemorrhoids to see if they have some thoughts for you @azcardsfan @linda82 @celia16 @martft4 @adlttl123 @samclembeau @catherine1290 @pianist3 @m1rmiller.

Hi, @cjval52 - just wanted to check in and see how you are doing today. Are you still experiencing bleeding?

I'm also tagging a few other Connect members from different support groups who've mentioned hemorrhoids and may also have experience with or done research on infrared hemorrhoid treatment (infrared photocoagulation) they can share: @microcos @deevon @marylin @verol65 @fotula @jennsdreamer @interest @trt55 @jeannieflores @wsx @merwether. @dlydailyhope and @jlharsh also may have some thoughts on the pros and cons of this treatment.

This is a mistake. I have not suffered from hemorrhoids. My husband has and had surgery several years ago. Sorry that I'm of no help in this case.

I have never hear of "infrared procedure" but I have hemorrhoids and am very interested. I have had a total colectomy with IRT in 2023 and I am not interested in hemorrhoid surgery. I want to rest from surgeries for a while. But hemorrhoids can be very uncomfortable.

Thanks for tagging me, @lisalucier. What I know about the coagulation treatment of hemorrhoids is that it is not super invasive and is generally safe. It, of course won’t take care of what is creating the problem in the first place which is what I am proponent of. Here is some information Mayo Clinic offers online:
- Hemorrhoid Overview https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hemorrhoids/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20360280

Hi, @cjval52. I am not sure what your unique situation is so I have my own experience to comment from. I had a systemic circulation problem that hit and taking one thing at a time to figure it out, pelvic floor therapy was initially recommended. It made absolutely no sense to me and I was desperate for help. I had been struggling with a pain that felt like it was right above my tailbone, at times intolerable. My doctors at Mayo Clinic were confident I had pelvic floor dysfunction that needed addressed before moving on to anything else. They were right!

“If the pelvic floor is part of the hemorrhoid problem, treatment needs to hit both angles. Creams, diet changes, or even minor procedures won’t fix muscle issues.” This comes from an online search I found about the connection between hemorrhoids and pelvic floor therapy. I am not familiar with the source, but I do think this page is spot on.

If you are comfortable sharing more it may help others know how to comment. Individual experiences of symptoms and treatment successes vary. Things like what else you have tried, are your hemorrhoids internal, a what size are they, are you able to rest the area (no straining, constipation, diarrhea) for 7-10 days to recover, are you able to avoid lifting, willing to address one hemorrhoid at a time. All of these variables are important in your decision.

Have you tried pelvic floor therapy, or other treatments? Why symptoms are you trying to solve, what makes your hemorrhoids better or worse?

I guess it comes down to, what is your situation and what are you trying to accomplish?

You’re the sweetest! I found a product made in China!! It’s a deal breaker, not perfect but the best that I’ve found—mayinglong. Amazon carries it and I use it every day. It seems to help! Thanks for reaching out!! Have a great day!
