Has everyone had their Shingles vaccine?

Posted by jlo2252 @jlo2252, Jun 22, 2024

Hi there. Just had my second shingles vaccine today. I did it because I do not want more pain and I have heard that Shingles is VERY painful!!
The injection itself stung a little bit, but I did not have any side effects from it.
If you are over the age of 50 you need to do this— protect yourself!

I’ve been getting the flu shot every year for a long time and I’ve never had the flu.
I’ve taken a total of two Covid vaccines and I decided I’m not taking any more! I’m a Novid. I have never had Covid or tested positive for Covid (and they tested me a lot whenever I had asthma issues or bronchitis!)
I think I have a natural immunity to Covid even though I’m immune-suppressed,. It’s weird, I know . My sister has never never had Covid or tested positive either. When I told my pcp about this she told me her daughter also always tests negative and she’s the only one in family that didn’t get sick with Covid.
And I believe @dadcue here has never had covid either or tested positive for it. Are we medical oddities or naturally immune to Covid?
I still take all my other vaccines, just no more Covid boosters

I’m a medical oddity for sure. I’m immunosuppressed but never have had Covid.. I don’t take any precautions anymore. My wife and daughters have been sick and tested positive and were worried I would die because I was vulnerable. I never tested positive and we never isolated so I was exposed. I was vaccinated but so were my wife and daughters and they still had Covid multiple times. I was told my vaccine might not be very effective because I was on prednisone.

I am susceptible to infections. I have an autoimmune disorder that derives its name from a reaction to infections. It is called reactive arthritis. I am prone to infections but my immune stystem is called “over reactive” to infections. All hell breaks loose when I have an infection. I don’t get terribly sick, but the infections persist and my whole body has pain.

Yes, we are medical oddities for sure! As you know I also have had reactive arthritis since my mid-twenties ( I’m 75 now) and on top of that, I’m also asthmatic and diabetic ( both conditions genetic in my family)
It is very strange and I certainly count my blessings that I never got Covid or flu!
