Has anyone used CBD oil for chronic pain? And do you have results?

Posted by rensacb @rensacb, Jan 22, 2019

I'm a chronic pain suffer of 35+ years. Scoliosis is the culprit. Not a disfiguring curve but non the less painfully destructive. Almost every disc is bulging from 3mm to 6mm. I've had 2 spinal fusion. C 3-7 and L 4-5. Have 4 nerve root impengements with spondylosis in some areas and stenosis at interval from neck to sacral. Take steroid shots when I can with positive results for a few weeks. Always have Norco 5mg/325 ready if needed. Unfortunately I have found the best way to keep pain down is to lie down. So most of my days are spent on my bed. Any suggestions?

Does the CBD oil have a smell to it where others would notice the smell?

If you buy from Flora Sophia, like @delcasa did, there is a taste, but very little smell. I don't believe anyone would notice it.

I take unflavored and have not noticed any smell. Hope it helps.

I live in Florida, close to Mayo Clinic. I can’t find CBD without THC. Need it for pain control.
Any suggestions?

I used CBD cream for arthritis in my hands. I alternated days with Volatran. It was 500 mg and $30! No THC. Now, the Natural Grocers have taken most CBD products off the shelf because most have THC.

It’s a shame as CBD oil works for pain.!

I use the sublingual drops, but do NOT put under my tongue. Instead I rub it on my ankle (which has severe Osteoarthritis). It works great.

I'll have to try it on my knee, it does not do anything under the tongue.

I had my fusion L4-S1 with laminectomy in 1990 after a fall down stairs. I now have chronic pain syndrome, PN lower extremities, chronic scoliosis and use buprenorphine patches as my main pain control and I was using 6 Percocet a day for breakthrough pain. Instead I’m using cannabis tincture THC 15mg 4x day, CBD 100mg 4x day and I micro-dose THC by vaping periodically and I no longer require Percocet for breakthrough pain. I walk 2 miles a day and do my HEP 2x day.

I too have multiple fusions (C3-T1 & L2-S1). I visit a pain mgmt. doc for epidural injections, take Gabapentin (600mg 2x/day), Diclofenac Pot. 50mg (2x/day), Cymbalta (90mg/day)... & still always need to deal with pain & neuropathy.

I'm in day 4 of dosing CBD (I'm currently at 1mg oil (around 10mg CBD) 2X/day. I believe I'm feeling better in my lumbar (cervical spine isn't sore, just lacks ROM), I'm hoping it's not placebo effect!

I've decarboxylated & infused my own CBD (what a pain!!!), I've tried commercial oils, but it's just so dad-blasted expensive! I believe that I never gave myself enough because of the cost.

It's believed (by me & the pain mgmt Doc) that I'm having problems with adjacent Segment Disease, at L1 & my SI Joints. Injections in both SI joints & T12-L1 have helped greatly.

@jonc59 I take 100mg CBD and 15mg THC 4x day to relieve my breakthrough pain. My tincture bottle contains 6,000mg /60cc CBD and 1cc=100mg $89.00. You should consider increasing your dosing if you’re able. I decarboxylate too using a mason jar in the oven and I have no mess or smells using this method. I do not infuse nor would I care too.
