It's just another scam preying on our hope to find something, anything that will help relieve some of our pain. Don't fall for it, nerves CANNOT be healed.
as mrmacabre says, nerves do not seem to be able to be healed. But much of neuropathy or neuritis is not from nerves that actually show damage in tests but from inflammation or an autoimmune response and supplements might help with that.
Some supplements show an ability to help with inflammation, like SPM which is chemically the same as our own bodies' SPM which helps resolve inflammation.
But bone biome is aimed at the gut axis and aimed at back stiffness and pain.
The ingredients which usually are aimed at neuropathy are Bvitamins, ALA and Alcar. But Bvitamins can also cause nerve damage. SPM helps resolve inflammation. LDN works on resetting the immune system...etc...
So first you need the tests to check for actual nerve damage then the tests to check for B vitamins etc and dang a whole host of other tests. Then you can decide with your doctor which supplement if any might help.
Mine started me on SPM; it helped, but I still have flareups with stress or virus exposure
BackBiome seems made up mainly of probiotics and is aimed at gut health.
Below is what the AI said when I asked if there was any research to back up that backbiome helps with nerve pain.
I would say that what helps with nerve pain would depend greatly on what is causing the nerve pain.
Ai:
There is no direct clinical research proving that the specific BackBiome supplement helps with nerve pain. While the company cites studies on its individual probiotic strains and internal consumer surveys, these do not constitute independent scientific validation for the product as a treatment for neuropathic pain.
Many specialists note that while probiotics are a promising area of study, they are not a proven cure for nerve damage, and standard treatments (like B vitamins or ALA) remain more common
Recent research is exploring how gut health impacts neuroinflammation and chronic pain.
1. Inflammation: Probiotics may help maintain the intestinal barrier, potentially reducing the systemic inflammation that can exacerbate nerve pain.
2. Neuropathy: Some studies suggest that gut microbiome dysbiosis (imbalance) contributes to conditions like diabetic neuropathy, and that modulating the microbiome could be a supportive tool for managing symptoms.
I have neuritis from a reaction to a vaccine. I have found that my problems seem to be caused by inflammation in the nerves. My neurologist prescribed SPM for me; SPM is used by the body to resolve inflammation. This is what our bodies produce from omega 3s; SPM is something that our body has trouble making enough of as we age and with any disease or condition. The SPM has helped me , but it has taken years for the neuritis to calm down. It will still activate with stress especially from a viral infection.
So if nerve pain is from inflammation then SPM might help. Aspirin also helped me which was one of the biggest clue to the doctors that my problem was inflammation.
Like @mrmacabre, I tend to be skeptical about new supplements claiming cure or nerve repair for neuropathy. I wish it were true.
However, BackBiome official website claims "BackBiome focuses on the internal microbiome balance that influences inflammation, muscle tension, and nerve sensitivity. " As for helping neuropathy, that might be something to discuss with your doctor.
As @kathleen1314 also posted, there is some research suggesting that the diabetic type of neuropathy may be influenced by the microbiome (vast colonies of microorganisms—bacteria, fungi, and viruses that are responsible for good gut health). This study explains in more detail:
- Integrating gut microbiota into multidisciplinary perspectives on diabetic neuropathy https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12620251/
Whether this medication helps you or not would be a good discussion to have with your doctor and/or pharmacist. I would ask the pharmacist to review the ingredients in the supplement.
Do you know what type of neuropathy you have? Where did you see the video promoting this supplement?

@shirld1101, I moved your question to this related discussion:
- Has anyone tried the supplement “Back Biome"? Does it work?https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/has-anyone-tried-the-supplement-back-biome/
