Has anyone tried RelaxMax to help with sleep?

RelaxMax by Xymogen is a dietary supplement containing GABA, magnesium, and calming amino acids. Have you used this for your person with dementia to help with sleep? Does it work? If so, how long did they need to take it take to notice a difference? Any side effects? Thank you for your feedback.

I haven't tried that specific product, but I've tried others with similar formulas. They were no help at all. Sorry.

Ask your primary care doctor or any doctor really to prescribe zolpidem. It is a controlled substance, mild effects but works very very well for sleep. My husband and I both take it. It changed our lives.

And also, we have tried many natural sleep products and absolutely nothing is helpful except for the real thing. A sleep medication prescribed by a doctor. Give it a try is worth it.

Some food for thought:
For me, I think dietary supplements should be taken only when a doctor feels that they are appropriate. Even then there is no federal regulation of ingredients or effectiveness. There is no guarantee that you are actually getting what is on the label let alone any scientifically valid studies to prove the claims on the label. Consumer watchdog investigations have shown that besides possibly not containing what is listed on the label, there are often contaminants from the source of the raw ingredients or the manufacturing process. If you decide to use them I would be very careful to choose a brand that has third party testing on their products.

I agree that if you want a medication to help your loved one sleep, the best option is to speak to his/her healthcare provider.

Another unapproved, unregulated "supplement" with unsubstantiated claims, promoted by "fringe" physicians. The primary benefit is the high profit margin for the manufacturer. Buyer beware.
