Has anyone tried GLP-1 to treat their LS?

Posted by bunnybutt77 @bunnybutt77, 2 days ago

I feel very fortunate to have a progressive provider helping me live with my LS. At my appointment last week, she suggested trying a new FDA approved GLP-1, Foundayo.

Is anyone in this group on a GLP-1? Have you noticed any improvement in your LS while on it?

I’ve never considered taking a GLP-1 before. I don’t have diabetes and I am not struggling with my weight or food cravings. So it’s been a mind game for me to consider taking it for off brand reasons. But we with LS know, any glimmer of relief is worth exploring.

Worth a try, if recommended by your doctor, although I would run it by your pharmacist as well. I find pharmacists are a great source of information because after all, they deal with medications. If you do decide to go on this drug, do keep us posted. I have Lichen Sclerosis too and would love to know if it works.

I have Oral Lichen Planus as well, and my doctor, an oral pathologist, prescribed Lyderm gel which also is off label and I was concerned about taking it, but my pharmacist assured me it would be safe to use in my mouth. It has worked out great. Initially I had to use it every day for seven to ten days (I did ten days because my mouth was very sore) but now I only use it occasionally for flares.

I have heard some medications work better for off label use than for what they are intended originally. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sometimes they order we Wegovy for weight loss, People with diabetes, People who have heart issues. Also for people who are scheduled for surgery just a few reasons why they recommend it. Wegovy Started as a diabetic drug then in Denmark, they make the drug. They noticed a lot of people were losing weight. They made some changes to the drug and now it is a weight loss drug.
