Has anyone tried Avulux glasses for migraine?
Insurance does not cover these glasses but my neuro eye doctor suggested trying them. They are tinted for light sensitivity.

Hi, @mikaylar. The idea of migraine and light sensitivity glasses is intriguing. @SusanEllen66 @rwinney @fdona58 @avmcbellar have mentioned migraine glasses and may have an opinion for you. @zoe3 @taterjoy @chellbie70 @jenniferhunter @quazar also might know about this type of glasses and have some input.

What did you decide, mikaylar? Have you tried these glasses?

1 ReactionHi Lisa, my friend bought the glasses for $300 and I tried them at her house with no luck. However, it seems when I wear my prescription sunglasses I get 2% relief. At this point I will take any relief I can get.

1 ReactionHi @mikaylar and @lisalucier -
I tried specialty migraine types of glasses, never for $300. Mine were around 50 or $60 from Amazon and were tinted rose color - touted as migraine helpers. My experience was that they didn't help and I got my money back.
Since graduating from the Mayo Clinic Pain Rehabilitation Center, migraine management comes mostly from lifestyle change including meditation and deep breathing, good nutrition and sleep hygiene, exercise and a big one... stress management.
Light sensitivity is super challenging with migraine. I may need to have light filtering blinds down on a certain day but the trick is to work with your body and pull back gradually without complete shutout of light because that may intensify sensitization.
A balance of time limited rest periods and relaxation with minimal or light activity helps me calm my central nervous system and work through symptoms. Also, exposure therapies can be helpful as preventive measures of either light not triggering migraine or helping build up a tolerance to light.
A mantra I like to think of with symptoms like migraine, is to "swim with the current" not against it. I sure hope your friend got their 300 bucks back! That's a doozy.

2 ReactionsNo she did not. I have a continual headache so it's not like it comes on. It is called a New Daily Persistent Headache but it sure isn't new = 5 yr/8 mos, every day, all day.

1 ReactionHas anyone had experience with speciallenses for those suffering from migraines? The glasses have special tinted lenses with SL 41 tint and I believe FL 41 tint. I am just beginning to investigate if they would be helpful. I would very much appreciate any information you could provide. Thanks!
@maxieg - I wanted to let you know I moved your post here to this discussion where others were talking about specialized glasses for migraine.
So far, are you leaning toward or against getting some of these glasses?
Thank you for re-posting here. The message sent before I was able to title it properly.
I really appreciate your connecting me to this thread.
Very helpful. Think I may cancel my appointment. It was a longshot anyway. I tried a pair of avulux lenses and they did not work. I thought maybe if I got the glasses with my prescription, it may help. I did return the avulux and got my money back.
Thanks again for your help!

Have tried Vyepti Infusion? My pain level 8 down to 4, effects lasted 10 days, then pain level increased to 6 (still better than 8+ 24x7 for past 5 years). Can only get Vyepti Infusion every 3 months. It worked much better than the two prior Migraine Infusions.
I also get Physical Therapy Dry Needling for tense neck muscles, plus muscle relaxer 3x/day.

1 Reaction@fourleaf I have had 3 infusions (at 300 level). The 1st was fantastic, I did not have a major migraine for 2 months! But they started back at month 3. The 2nd did not work at all. I just had my 3rd and it has definitely reduced the number of migraine days (I was at 22 days), only 2 in 2 weeks now, and was able to stop migraine in a day and a half. Huge progress so far, just hope it continues. I have had so many things work, until they didn't.
