Has anyone tried Avulux glasses for migraine?

Insurance does not cover these glasses but my neuro eye doctor suggested trying them. They are tinted for light sensitivity.

@maxieg Ah yes, I believe I may have already asked you that question in one of our past conversations, my apologies. Yes, you would have to join Facebook but don't have to utilize it for anything but the support group. Feel free to private message me if you decide to get on Facebook and need assistance signing up for PRC - Living the C support group.

@maxieg good luck with your new glasses. I'm sure others in this thread will be interested in hearing how they work for you regarding photosensitivity and migraine.

Graded exposure therapy is a good option towards helping desensitize photophobia. It's retraining your brain to not react in such a hypersensitive state by gradually increasing light tolerance. It greatly helps if light is a migraine trigger.

hi @rwinney,
Just wanted to follow up on the FL 14 lenses.
The glasses I ordered with the
specially tinted lenses for migraine sufferers did not work for me. I tried them on when I went to pick them up.
Immediately I knew I could not manage them. They made my head feel awful. I knew for sure that I would never try even one more time.
I sent them back and ordered my usual bifocal lenses. Clear at the top, reading prescription at the bottom.
The glasses evidently must help many folks. I was simply not willing to give it another try.

@maxieg oh sorry about that, well at least you tried. I tried back in the day also and the rose tinted glasses did not help me either.

PRC teaches about graded exposure and moderation. With those tools I have been able to slowly acclimate my eyes to tolerate more light. It takes time and persistence but I definitely feel progress in my ability to be less sensitive.

I'm sure glad you were able to order the glasses that you need. I wear sunglasses for eye protection like most normal people but with CSS at times I need to wear them indoors in bright stores or on grey days.

Dr. Sletten gave great advice for stores like Walmart .... he said to walk in without sunglasses for a few minutes at a time each time you shop and tolerate as much light as you can in small increments before putting the sunglasses back on in the store. Maybe try for 5 minutes one trip and then 10 minutes the next. The key is to stick to the PRC principles of moderation and modification while giving ourselves grace on difficult days.

Have you tried implementing graded exposure to build your light tolerance, and if so how has it worked for you?

Hi @rwinney, thanks so much for your reply. I have been reading about
graded exposure as it applies to my issues.

Overall, I have been resisting shopping in the big box stores. I do go,
but don’t stay very long if I can help it. I begin to feel off, but I know
it will not harm me.
I also like to wear a cap to block out lights and movement of fans. But, I
am confused about that because I was told it is considered to be pain
behavior.
I also have difficulty watching TV. I only do so in moderation. It’s a
large screen and often too much activity and movement, e.g flashes,
disturbing camera movement. I was hoping the FL-41 glasses would be
helpful.

Anyway, I am so thankful and grateful for all the things the PRC program
has enabled me to do and enjoy. And, thank you @rewinney for being there.
