Has anyone seen their kidney cancer on an actual CT scan result?
Has anyone been shown their actual kidney cancer on a CT Scan?
My oncologist during my last appointment could not log into my portal from his laptop in a general exam room during our brief meeting. I had looked at al the scans and could not find an image that was labeled or indicated the actual cancer area.
I have had two scans and asked to be able to see the area that is cancerous. However in my portal the scans are not very clear nor are then labeled very well. The report says it has not changed in size since the last scan but I would at least like to see the actual image.
Question 1: Am I asking too much? I kind of got the impression I am.
I am thinking about contacting the radiology company where I got the scan and ask them if I can meet with the radiologist.
Question 2: Would that be appropriate? Has anyone done that?

1 ReactionThe narrative report by the radiologist tells the size of the lesion. I never had any interest of seeing the actual lesion, which has now disappeared thanks to immunotherapy. Since I'm not a physician I do not understand the importance of actually seeing any lesion.
I was shown my scans by my urologist , my surgeon (urologist speciality surgeon) and my oncologist . I had tumors on both kidney. My urologist showed me and simply said " see those areas. They are not supposed to be there."
It was basically just a different shade on the scan. Nothing very dramatic to the untrained eye.
You do seem very fixed on seeing this. It seems important to you. I would send a written message to your doctor, share how important it is to you and that it will bring you some peace in the midst of this unsettling situation and request that they please make arrangements for this. I would not think that the radiologist would be the person to share these with you but one of your treating physicians. Preferably the one who ordered the test . I hope this happens and brings you the resolution you are looking for .

1 ReactionI asked the hospital for the CT scans to be out on a disk fory oncologist and they did and the tumor was able to be seen ( with contrast dye the tumor shows up much better then without the contrast dye )
@patterson57, have you been able to talk to your oncologist to look at your scans together?
